A change in century... and you?

This is often the time of year we reflect on what has happened in our lives, where we are up to and where we expected to be - both personally and professionally. It’s great to do this, and to set realistic goals for the year ahead. Especially as this year - 2020 - marks the change of century.

Whenever we set goals it’s important to make them realistic and achievable. Who doesn’t want to always eat healthy organic food or travel the world! Both of these things are idealistic, but are they realistic? Things you can do to set - and achieve- realistic goals include:

  • Be specific - rather than ‘learn a language’ or ‘be healthier’, set a specific goal. Learn French or Eat more vegetables. This way the goal is more realistic, making you feel like you can actually achieve the goal rather than letting it go by the wayside.
  • Have no more than 3 goals at a time - 1 short term, 1 medium term and 1 long term goal helps to keep you focussed.
  • Tell people your goals - This helps you cement your thoughts and follow through with action. It makes you more accountable and can help get direction on where to start. All this combined helps you actually achieve that goal.
  • Get support - There are so many different goals, and equally so many qualified professionals to help you reach them.
